"I wasn't really sure what to expect from Hawk.  The summer ranger school has a very bad reputation in NY, but I had to keep reminding other people (and myself) that this was just a winter bivouac, and was not the same training as the summer school.  I've done a good bit of winter camping, so I wasn't worried about being unprepared.  I was hoping to learn a little more about orienteering and winter rescue, even though that's not my focus in CAP.  I also wanted to get good bivouac ideas from this, hoping to set up more woodland-based training in my Group."
