Basha - A field-expedient shelter rigged from a poncho, tarp, or natural materials.  In the US, this is usually called a "hootch."

Bergen - a British rucksack

Bowline - And end-of-rope knot used to create a loop for securing. Commonly remembered for its "the rabbit comes out of the hole, around the tree, back in the hole" reminder technique.

Boz - Slang for Bosnia. Maj Bowden went to Bosnia several years ago with the 29th ID.

Brew - Tea (a "brew-up" is the act of making tea)

Chest Rig - British equivalent to US LBE.  Multiple pouches on a harness worn (where else?) on the chest.

Dan French Actionwear - Various kinds of nifty-shifty fieldgear and kit. Named for Dan French from Michigan Wing, who was at one time the king of cool fieldgear and clothing (see Snivel Gear)

DPM - Disruptive Pattern camouflage used in British uniforms & equipment.

Gucci - Anything that is very luxurious. "These insulated boots are well Gucci, mate."

High Speed - A shortened version of "High Speed, Low Drag."  Anything cool, nifty, on the ball, or really squared away. "That cadet was pretty high-speed with all that snivel gear."

Hornpipe - A British solo dance performed by sailors. (No! Seriously! We're not making this up! Look here!)

Humping - Field marching with gear. (Also "forced march," "road march," or "ruck hump.")  Usage: "We moved out, humping about 3 klicks over rough terrain in an hour."

Jundie - English term for servant, harkening back to the period when Britain ruled India.

Kit - Field gear, personal equipment, etc. Usage: "James had a ton of kit, including some mess tins from India."

Knacker - A person who is unfit or overweight. (Also called a "fat knacker")

Knackered - Tired. Tuckered out. (See also: "Knacker" or "Fat knacker") Usage: "I was completely knackered after that little bit of tabbing."

Prusik - A knot used for its "tighten under tension" properties in climbing and braking/securing applications.

Snivel Gear - 1. Comfort items that are usually the first things tossed out of your gear when the going gets tough; 2. Useless stuff you pickup because its cool or nifty.  Often found on the wall at the Clothing Sales Store (ranger rubber bands, velcro notebooks, laser pointers, junk like that). "If its shiny, I want it."

Tabbing: Like yomping, but twice as fast. Usage: "Whilst tabbing across the ridgeline, Alpha Sq ran into some trouble."

Torch - Flashlight.

Yomping - Field marching with gear. (See also: Humping.  May be "yomp" or "yomped" depending on the context) Usage: "Echo Squadron's exercise began as a leisurely yomp."
