Scott's Big Adventure - 2 July 01 - Phew! Get some Right Guard..

Scott Matthews

Captain Scott Matthews is California Wing's answer to Kevin Smith. His seminal works, the 1999 California Wing Encampment video and his more recent encampment commercials (click here and here) have been featured here on CadetStuff previously. This year, Scott has been tapped by National Headquarters to travel to each National Cadet Special Activity this summer and document the events for future advertising and promotional use. CadetStuff equipped Scott with a CadetStuff t-shirt (literally the 2nd t-shirt off the presses!) and asked him to send us updates as he journeys across the country. Each week, his travelogue will be serialized here in as many parts as is required.

07/02/01 - Cadet Officer School, Maxwell AFB

Today my luggage arrives and I get situated.

It is hot and muggy. I filmed a class in a practical application of leadership involving an actual Gulf War scenario, and then some footage from a CAP command structure class. There are 105 cadets here, and I met a friend from my basic flight at National Blue Beret, that was cool.

I was also shown a little video in the base theater/auditorium of a night flight filmed by Darin Ninness, niiiiiiiiiiiiice. [Editors Note: I did not pay him to say that! -DN]

ItÂ’s neat to see the Air Force personnel working directly along side CAP in training the cadet officers of the nation.

Y'know, the English guy in "Gattica"?) to say, "This was on CadetStuff.org and I stole it like it ain't no thang!" and then do the River Dance.
