He served in the active duty United States Army from July, 1966 to December, 1975 as an Infantryman and Counterintelligence Agent, and then on active duty with the Michigan Air National Guard from February, 1976 until his retirement in May 1992 as both NCOIC of Security Police Training and Operations Superintendent of the 191st Security Police Flight. He was also the 191st Fighter Interceptor Group's Senior Enlisted Advisor from 1988 to 1991 as an additional duty. Throughout his Civil Air Patrol career, Lt Col Padavan has served as commander of the South Macomb, Van Dyke and Columbia Cadet Squadrons, the the 1994 National Squadron of Distinction, the South Oakland Cadet Squadron, and as group commander for the Macomb Group III and the Oakland-Macomb Group. He has also been the commandant and director of Michigan Wing's Cadet Leadership School from 1986 through 1998 and Encampment Commander in 1991. He is presently the Chief of Staff at Michigan Wing Headquarters. |
