Scott Matthews Finally Goes Legit!

CadetStuff

For those of you who have been living under a rock, your attention please: Capt Scott Matthews has been a regular and valued guest and contributor on CadetStuff since our lauch. He's allowed us to premier some of his work and gave us a great interview and travelogue of his adventures in filming the NCSAs that became these videos.

We at CadetStuff got a sneak peek at Scott's NCSA videos a few weeks ago, and we were champing at the bit to show them off. However, calmer heads prevailed and NHQ finally got a scoop on us! Anyway, here's what Scott had to say about the recent NCSA video release:

"I pumped those out in one straight week before I left for [Army] Basic. I just had to make those little touches when I got back, package them up on a CD with all the different formats and wait for National to post them. The setup was different this time in that the music was not professional. It was produced by Brian Dokko, a former CAP cadet who is now at UCLA. This proposed a new challange. We didn't want to worry about licensing issues, so it was necessary, but neither one of us had done this before. He had not produced so many songs in a short amount of time and I had not created a montage for music I'd never heard before. That's a majority of my creative process: listening to music over and over again while I envision the perfect scene. Each project was built as the music played for the first time on the timeline. For two of the acitivities, I could only schedule one-and-a-half days for filming, and did not get enough footage to really make the activitiy shine; but at least you'll get a glimpse of each. In the end we each did our best, and we hope that the videos create further interest in the National Special Activities. They will be available soon from the upcoming Cadet Exchange website, along with further videos that are in the works."

There you have it, from the CAWG Video Wunderkind himself! CadetStuff thanks Scott and those who made his trip possible, especially Major Mike Kathriner.
