Activities :: Civic Leadership Academy Application Deadline
Joe Curry, one of the Program Manager for Cadet Programs at Civil Air Patrol National Headquarters has put out a reminder that the application deadline for Civic Leadership Academy is just around the corner on 1 OCT 2007. Continue reading
:: Hey! It's SeptemberStuff!
bound.jpgIt was bound to happen eventually: Fresh drivel from the site that keeps you waiting and then fails to deliver! Woot! ... Quality? Yeah, we got quality! Check out this quality fishwrap from CadetStuff's favorite Corvette-driving, National Board-crashing, Cadet-spawing, disco-guy John Knowles: The Ant Bully... Err... Ah... Leading the Little People, that is. Ehh, what's the difference? Right? ... Moving right along to our next disappointing entry, CadetStuff staffer Dan 'Dano the Man-O' Routier talks about the pageant and spectacle that is Drill and Ceremonies, the CAP way, in this vaugely disturbing offering. Anyone else got angst somewhere in the sub-navular area? No? Must be us, then. ... The letdowns just keep on coming as we move to the latest from Capt. Naugle, entitled: "My Life Waiting for a Mission, or: Now I Know What Death is Like". Just kidding! He actually titled it Fundamentals of Leadership. Eh. What does an Air Force captain know about leadership anyway? You can skip that one with a clear conscience. ... Not that this next piece is worth the stop, either. CadetStuff's own Edward D. Wood, Jr. - Scott Matthews - has pulled out all the stops and created what is possibly the greatest fritter of electrons in the history of the internet. For the love of all the is good in this world, don't click on the link to his latest National Guard ad, 'Citizen Soldier'. Well, that's about it for CadetStuff this month. Now, run! Click to a good site - like CapTalk - while you still have a chance! Don't say we didn't warn you!
Leadership :: Fundamentals of Leadership 2: Long Term Leadership
Mentoring is an intensely personal thing, it is based on a bond and trust between an instructor and a student. Mentoring is tailored to the individual, it is meant to teach the student all the little lessons you can't learn in class. For example, my favorite mentor once told me: "Naugle, the first rule of looking cool in the Air Force, is... Continue reading
Drill :: Drill the Dano Way...
mti.jpgThe CAP cadet program seems to spend a rather lot of time on drill and ceremonies. I think this has a lot to do with the fact that as an activity it doesn't have a lot of overhead, and it is seen by the cadets as something military, "cool!!!" However, it is pretty rampant throughout cadet organizations to see drill being done improperly both in execution and in theory. Continue reading
Links :: Citizen Soldier
Scott Matthews - who has been featured here on CadetStuff a time or two - has been hard at work reminding us all that the National Guard is there for us and part of us. If you haven't caught his latest work in your local theater, check it out here: 'Citizen Soldier', and we challenge you to hold back the hooah!
Leadership :: Leading the Little People
What wasn't so cool was the air of superiority that some of the folks sitting at the tables up front seem to have about themselves. For most leaders in CAP being selected as a Wing Commander is the highlight and the twilight of their career. Continue reading
