All the old garbage you can handle!

:: It's October, Kids!
wonderful_life.jpgAnd wouldn't ya know it, we got one out on time for once! It's a Christmas miracle! ... Let's continue the early Xmas wonderfulness with the gift that keeps on giving: the final installment of Cadet Mark Symonds article on MAWG encampment. ... And because we can't get enough of the Bay State (Why don't seagulls fly by the bay? Because then they'd be bay-gulls!), it's on to the second part of Joshua Bemis' recollections of his year on MAWG encampment staff. ... Dr. Drill gets a little action and stuffs a couple of stockings with advice on color guard and saluting. ... Our own Shawn Stanford is trying to make all those hours in front of the tube pay off: check out his article on what he learned watching 'The Apprentice'. ... And speaking of Stanford, join the fun and help CS design the next spacedog t-shirt, or else we'll have to do another set of those rags he dreamed up! ... And, lastly but not leastly: folks, if you haven't tried Google Earth yet, you might as well be a Flat-Earther. Google Earth is to interactive maps what Google is to search engines. If you've got the horsepower, prepare to be amazed. We are serious as a heart attack here! What are you waiting for? ... Well, that's about it for this episode and we've got a million things to do for the holidays, so pardon us while we make like a baby and head out. See ya!
Activities :: MAWG Encampment 2005 - The Renegade Version, Part 2
Saturday night into Sunday was a sleepless one. For staff, that's your lot. You average about 3 hours of sleep per night. It got to you, especially when I had to be woken up one time (by the Cadet Deputy Commander too...) in transit to the barracks from the Nuclear Missle Radar Facility. Continue reading
Drill :: First on foot and right of the line.
Dear Dr. Drill, Hey, You know Your Drill. I say the words AFMAN everybody is like, "what's that". I have read that so many times. GOT A QUESTION THOUGH. When you salute the AFMAN 36-2203 doesn't say where a lower ranking Cadet should stand if by a higher ranking person. Though I know it's on the Honor side to the left. Show me were it say it in the AFMAN 36-2203. CADET Continue reading
Drill :: Color Guard Confusion...
Dear Dr. Drill, Hi, my question is about color guard. While the guard is in forward march on which shoulder is it appropriate for the the Left Guardsmen to rest his rifle on? Continue reading
Activities :: This One Time, At Encampment Part 4
Since I was ready for PT, getting up was no problem when they woke us up encampment style 5 minutes later. Lights were on, my eyes weren’t adjusted, but the shock really wasn’t there. At this point during the week, you could have dropped a bomb next to me and I’d have said "Wow, that’s some draft we got here." I couldn’t be surprised. I moved with a feigned urgency down the stairs. Continue reading
Leadership :: Leadership Lessons from 'The Apprentice'
...don't claim to be the best thing in the woods since Les Stroud when you can't make a fire with two pounds of white phosphorus, a blowtorch and a Bic lighter. While you're screwing around rubbing two sticks together, it's getting dark and your team is getting cold. Continue reading
Links :: Google Earth
Folks, we simply can't say enough about the incredible awesomeness that is Google Earth. So, we're just going to throw in the blurb on the Google Earth page and hope you have the good sense to start clickin': Google Earth combines satellite imagery, maps and the power of Google Search to put the world's geographic information at your fingertips. Fly from space to your neighborhood. Type in an address and zoom right in. Search for schools, parks, restaurants, and hotels. Get driving directions. Tilt and rotate the view to see 3D terrain and buildings. Save and share your searches and favorites. Even add your own annotations.
