All the old garbage you can handle!

:: It's June!
grill.jpgGather the kids round while dad sparks up the grill with a little charcoal fluid and little LOX! (No, not as in 'bagels and-', Sparky. And do not try this at home! We're not sure you can even get liquid oxygen for home use, but even so: don't even think about it! - Ed.). ... And speaking of grilling, we're going to have a little ketchup here - as in 'catch up' - and squeeze out Noah Schill's long-overdue article on NESA 2004! Sing together now: Anticipation. Anticipay-yay-shun! ... Don't get it? Fuggetaboutit! ... Also up, SCPO Joseph Land Jr of the American Cadet Alliance offers up some tips and tricks on How to Survive Your First ACA Summer Camp. You CAP encampment-types would do well to read this! ... We have a passel of links, too, including a link Jango Fett would be proud to clone and make his own: CivilAirman.com, and a challenge to vertical acceleration from Rocket Team Vatsaas. Say that three times fast! ... Tom Cruise ain't got nuthin' on John Knowles nephew Tom "Sling" Bladen (We hear a Billy Bob Thornton joke in there, but its just too obscure..) who hits the Strip, hangs out with the King, and takes home the gold (trophy) in Top Gun - Air Force Style or Viva Las Veags. Hail to the King, baby! ... Finally, we learn a little bit more about Gettysburg (again with the Civil War. Gosh!) and what Lt Col Knowles spends his time doing when he should be camping. Betcha George Meade didn't have to start his own barbeque! Stay tuned for some late breaking CadetStuff, too, as we'll have some extra articles going up after our monthly issue. Pay attention! And get me some more relish for this burger!
Activities :: NESA - NGSAR 2004
NGSAR is not a great school, it's not even a good school, no, it's an outstanding school! (You may notice while reading this that I expound often on the virtues of NGSAR, this is because I bought stock in them and feel obligated to do a little advertising.) Continue reading
Aerospace :: Top Gun - Air Force Style or Viva Las Veags
Tom Slide.jpgSix months ago he got word that he was accepted as a student at the USAF Weapons School at Nellis AFB in Nevada. He knew he was an alternate selection for the school but the primary screwed up (what happened is classified so ..) and he had three and a half weeks to get up to speed for the school. Can you say "Maverick and Goose"? See below for a description of the USAF Weapons School. Continue reading
Links :: I've Got A Bad Feeling About This: CivilAirman.com
We're not giving Civil Airman's site, www.CivilAirman.com, a reciprocal link just because he's a forum lizard and because his site links to CadetStuff. No, we're linking to his site because, due to an unusual comm foul-up, CA's been getting a blog feed from a galaxy far, far away that chronicles a young cadet's trip to Imperial Encampment with the INA (Imperial Naval Auxiliary, that is) This set of entries is just too danged funny to risk you Bozos not finding it for yourselves, including Cadet Antillies' favorite website, easily found at the bottom of Day 5. Get there and enjoy, and don't make us use our Jedi Mind Tricks on your butts. (Standard disclaimers regarding drinking or eating while surfing apply. We are not responsible for the soda bath you may give your computer. - Ed.)
Leadership :: Who Won at Gettysburg?...The Rest of the Story
I'm sure many of you are wondering if Cadetstuff has fallen into a time warp and gone back to the 1860's? In one of life's ironic twists I had just returned from a camping vacation in Pennsylvania the week before Matt's article came across our desk. Continue reading
Links :: Rocket Team Who?
So we're poking around the this Interweb thingy the other day, looking for a scale-model kit of Burt Rutan's SpaceShip One ($80 for a 1/72 scale model? Hello? Who are they kidding?) when we came across this interesting site documenting the efforts of Rocket Team Vatsaas and their arsenal of flyable scale models of fantastic proportion! Whoa, these guys either a) don't have enough time on their hands; b) aren't married (or are married to a Stepford Wife of some sort); c) have an unlimited amount of funds available for their trickery. Anybody check the cash reserves at Fort Knox recently? Anyhow, check out what led us to their site in the first place: A Rutan-esqe journey to powered, winged flight. Maybe not beyond the edge of the atmosphere, but hey, we can dream, right?
Activities :: How to Survive Your First ACA Summer Camp
Hello, I'm Cadet Senior Chief Petty Officer Joseph M. Land, Jr. I'm the Senior Cadet Advisor to the National Commandant and this will be my seventh Annual Training. I thought I'd write a few pointers for those of you new to ACA Annual Training. I've broken them down into a couple of categories to help you out. These are things that are tried and tested, so trust me they work. Continue reading
