Who's the leader of the club?
I attended a weekend activity recently where I saw the Cadet staff go out of their way to dream up piddly little things for their students to do. At least, that's the way it seemed to me. We're talking about standing at attention in front of their racks while the staff figured out what was going on, teaching 'exhibition drill' to Cadets who barely know left from right, insisting that everyone stand interior guard (Six men at a time for 45 minute shifts - why?), an overly complex guard log book and a zero-five-hundred PT session on Sunday morning.

Visit with the Me262 project group and learn about how this incredible project has come about. Their effort is nothing less than Herculean to bring this legend of aviation back to the world's skies.

Drummond Island:Declassified - The Consumate Squad Leader
Sir, As requested, here is the information on C/TSGT Hannibal and his background with the Civil Air Patrol, as known to me. I hope this information helps as you prepare to make your selection for your units next cadet commander. While he has not progressed as fast as would normally be preferred, Hannibal has several qualities that I believe make him worth training and others that need tempering. His and my paths have crisscrossed quite a bit over the last few years.

This is the ATC - Part 3 (Joe Bloggs goes to Camp)
Bloggs has probably already met some of the people from other Squadrons through other activities such as Wing Training weekends and through flying and gliding, so he is not too worried about the people he will be going to camp with. The bus ride there takes a couple of hours during which the Cadets start to talk to each other swap war stories. They arrive at Lyneham and pile off the bus.

Hawk Mountain 2002: Surviving Day 1
Youve heard the war stories about those infamous Pennsylvania Rangers, and you dont know what to expect. Youve heard about the first day, and how it can be the toughest and most intimidating day of your life. There is no question about it, the first day is tough, and will probably the one of the most demanding things you will accomplish in your Civil Air Patrol career. But that doesnt mean you cant get through it with flying colors. I should know, I participated in more than six first days at Hawk while I was a Cadet. Leading the Way X: "He has a Gift": The Myth of Charisma
What is Charisma? You've seen them: The person that just inspires others. Perfect hair, perfect uniform, intelligent, articulate, he wins people to his side by word and action. One phrase I like to use for this is "Motivation By Walking In The Room" - the theory being that people "perk up" just because they are in the presence of this person. Last time, we talked about Charisma and how it helps influence people, but isn't absolutely essential. This month, we'll examine two instances where overly relying on Charisma is dangerous: The True Believer and The House Of Cards.
