Squadron Alert! : 12. Storm Signal
"March?" one grizzled master sergeant exclaimed in answer to a question concerning this phase of the activities. "Why, they're out marching before we're up in the morning. I'd be willing to bet that if they had been marching in one direction, most of them would be at home right now."

It's SeptemberStuff!
What I did on my Summer Vacation, Part 2: Cadet Dan Nelson toots his horn and talks about the National Military Music Academy.
Ethics, we got ethics! And we got one of the foremost military ethics thinkers in the country, Professor Davida Kellogg, explaining the importance of the Non-Toleration Clause in the Honor Code.
Professor Kellogg also took time from her busy schedule (you won't believe how busy!) to talk with CadetStuff about herself and her career. Check it out!
We shook the Matt Heusser tree again and another plum piece on leadership fell out! Here's Matt's start on his series on cadet leadership techniques.
Speaking of trees: LtCol Ed Wilson has pulled out a chestnut: his 1995 ALCAP piece on Leadership and Boss-ship ... Things look a little sparse during opening formation? Let our Managing Editor Major Darin Ninness lead you down the path of righteousness as he prepares for a fall membership night in "How to Run a Successful Unit Open House"!
Wow! Did we get all that done? Who said anything about a vacation? Yeesh!

The Cadet Who Roared
In Yelling is not Leadership I tried to show that a lot of the time when your people make mistakes it's your fault, not theirs. And when it is your fault, yelling at them won't help - and will often hurt. I unfortunately had an opportunity to see this happen...

The Cadet NCO as Follower
Every leader is also a follower. From the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to the newest Cadet staff sergeant, everyone with a leadership position is someone else's follower. The role they assume depends on the situation and it is important to behave appropriately.

2001 National Military Music Academy
"Music has charms to soothe the savage breast" wrote English playwright William Congreve (no, not the guy who invented the rockets). He probably wasn’t thinking about military music when he wrote that famous line. But Cadet Dan Nelson of Illinois Valley Composite Squadron in Illinois Wing definitely had military music in mind when he went for a spot at the National Military Music Academy (NMMA) National Cadet Special Activity.

Cadet Codes of Conduct and What They Mean for You
One of the first wake-up calls you probably got after becoming a cadet was the message that, as a member of your schools corps of cadets, you would now be held to higher standards of behavior than your peers.
